Take a book. Read a book. Share a book. Ever since I ran across a Little Free Library somewhere on my travels, I've been so taken with the idea that I'm planning to install one in front of our house in Boston, where we get plenty of foot traffic. The concept is simple: books are free to anyone. Some people will take, some will leave their own books in the library. I love the variety of designs (the one above is eco-friendly, with a solar panel in the chimney that powers a light inside at night); follow the official Little Free Library Pinterest board to see more.

I really love the concept behind this. Rand shared an idea on Facebook (from India I think) where they use the same thing to distribute food.

Kalyn, I'm very excited about doing this. Fun for the community, fun for us. I hope people leave some interesting books in the library, too.

There's a drive thru version of this at a used book store near us. You have to pass through to get to the parking lot and there are shelves built into the covered support. This one is much more cute!

Kellypea, that drive-thru is a great idea. Ted's thinking about building a doppelganger of the Boston house, but maybe we'll just paint the outside of one like this. I love the solar-powered light!
