Cross House of Cards with The West Wing, set it in Denmark, and prepare for some serious binge watching. Borgen is, by far, the best political drama series we've watched since, well, House of Cards. Brigitte Nyborg, leader of the Moderate party, becomes Prime Minister by cobbling together a fragile coalition. While facing constant challenges from her political allies and foes, she's also fighting on the home front with her young children and frustrated husband. The stellar ensemble includes party leaders, spin doctors, and the press. Available on DVD, or borrow from the library; there are three seasons, a total of 30 episodes.
